Welcome to my site.
First of all, to make things clear, I did not create the portal system you can see on this site, on the forum and portal pages (and some extra features can be found all over the board). That awesome portal is Stargate Portal, developed by Michael O'Toole (Michaelo) at http://www.phpbbireland.com, where I have been a part of the development team since around November 2007. It is also the portal which will be a prominent part of IntegraMOD3, of which HelterSkelter is currently leading and where I have also been a part of the development team since late March 2008. IntegraMOD3 will be the successor of the very popular IntegraMOD system for phpBB2, which many of you may already be familiar with.
The primary reason I have made this site is to host, demonstrate and offer phpBB3 mods that I have either developed myself, or am involved in developing.
The most significant mod you will see on this site (except of course for SGP) is the calendar mod that I have been working on along with some of the guys from SGP, namely NeXur, JohnnyTheOne, Michaelo and nGAGE™ (I'm sure this list will be extended). In time, I will also be adding some more of my own mods; Details to follow shortly (although some can be found on http://www.phpbbireland.com).
The calendar mod on this site originally started life as the calendar mod found on http://www.phpbb.com by John Cottage (jcc264). However, the development of this calendar mod pretty much came to a standstill in early 2008, when John Cottage seemingly 'disappeared'. A few people continued to give some support on his mod, and a few continued to make some changes to it - But it soon seemed evident that the main development of this calendar had stopped.
We felt that this calendar was a good starting point to build a fully loaded calendar with all the functionality that we required, which also will be required before IntegraMOD3 can be released, since an upgrade path will be required from IM141 - The final version of IntegraMOD to be released for phpBB2. IM141 contained a topic calendar, developed by Ptirhiik. The upgrade from IM141 to IM3 will contain an upgrade from Ptirhiik's calendar to this one.
So, as you may have already guessed, this calendar DOES in fact include a phpBB3 topic calendar - something which has been requested and awaited by many members of the phpBB community. It also includes many other features, all of which are described in the following forums on this site.
I would like to note now, that the reason we have not yet posted any information about the development of this calendar on http://www.phpbb.com is because (I know I speak for at least myself here) we have been very actively involved in the development of Stargate Portal and IntegraMOD3 and hence devote a lot of time to these projects. Posting information about this development on phpbb.com opens it up to hundreds, if not thousands more people, for which it would be very difficult to provide the ongoing support to. Secondly, this mod has so far been developed on top of the Stargate Portal and hence may not be 100% compatible with a standard phpBB3 installation. Future plans do include making it compatible with both systems - This will almost certainly require seperate packages.
EDIT: There is now a version for phpBB3.0.2 - Please see the MOD packages forum
At some point in the near future we will start a thread on phpbb.com and give something back to the community that has given us so much.
By then we should hopefully have most of the bugs worked out and support will be easier
.As a guest on this site, you will be able to view the calendar and view event information for some events. You will also have access to some of the forums.
However, to view all the functionality (at least from an end user's perspective) you will need to register. Registration does not require you to wait for acceptance, as it is primarily adopted to provide us with some control to minimise abuse, spamming etc.
As a registered user, you will be able to test out the functionality of the calendar by posting events and topic events. You will also be able to view more of the calendar's functionality such as the attendance functions. As a registered user, you will also be able to download the latest version of the package, although it is strongly recommended that it is not yet used in a live environment.
For more information on everything to do with the calendar mod, please take a wander through the forums.
On another note....
You may have seen a similar portal called Portal XL by Damysterious. That was mostly stolen from Michaelo, pretty much from the very beginning of SGP (back then it was called KISS portal). Of course, it is an open source project, but the open source license does not state that you can just modify a few things and completely remove the original copyright - Which is what Damysterious did. So... Don't use Portal XL
You can find more information about this at http://www.phpbbireland.com
Thanks everyone,
Stu and the team
P.S. If I have left out any credits, please let me know and they will be added.
